The Companies That Offer the Most Seasonal, Temporary Jobs

The holiday season is in full swing, and with it comes millions of temporary jobs. This season there's a much bigger demand for seasonal workers than we've seen since 1999. If you'd like to pick up some extra work, check out these opportunities.

Staffing agency Adecco put together this holiday hiring infographic. The most important takeaways: 5 of the biggest retailers account for around 300,000 seasonal hires: Macy's, JC Penney, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, and Target. Hobby, toy, and game stores hire a greater percent of seasonal workers, however, that clothing stores, department stores, and sporting goods stores combined—so maybe give your local Toys R Us or GameStop a drop by. Perhaps also relevant, the US Postal Service actually hires fewer seasonal workers than both FedEx and UPS combined, though, despite delivering more packages.

If you don't want to work in retail or delivery, Adecoo says in another post that call centers are the best place to get a seasonal job. Not only does it involve little physical work and you might be able to work from home, if the job becomes permanent, call center job salaries are competitive—$30,496 for average entry-level reps or $81,145 for call center managers.
