If you have ADHD and had a rough semester, you might not realize most colleges will give you some extra accommodations to help you out.
You'll need a diagnosis of ADHD by a medical professional and will need to coordinate with your school's student disabilities services. You can't just go in and ask for these accommodations based on self-diagnosis. If you're between semesters, now's the time to work on this. Psychology Today goes over a list of popular accommodations like:
- Extended test-taking times
- Testing in a less distracting location
- Private and confidential note takers assigned by the Disability Office
- Permission to record lectures (not all professors allow this)
These accommodations are specific to the disability and always need school approval. Check out the link for other ideas to keep your ADHD from limiting your college success.
