Spend Your Expiring FSA Dollars on Sunscreen, Condoms, and More

Although you might be able to carry over part of your Flexible Spending Account balance, some of that money is still use-it-or-lose-it. If you're looking for some ideas of where to spend your FSA, Vox has some interesting suggestions.

Some of the suggestions are obvious, like contact lens solution or over-the-counter drugs (though you'll need a doctor's prescription to get reimbursed for the over the counter drugs ). Other ideas aren't quite as obvious, though—like sunscreen or prescription sunglasses. You can even spend that money on condoms or a heart defibrillator.

You can browse web sites like FSAStore.com, which carry a ton of items eligible for your FSA dollars. Popular shopping destinations like Drugstore.com and Amazon also have dedicated searches for eligible products. Local stores often mark FSA eligible products on shelves around this time of year, too.

Check with your Human Resources department about carry over or grace periods, while you're at it. Hit the link below for the full list.
