Lyft Riders: Sit in the Front to Chat, Back for Quiet

Ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber are great, cost-effective ways to get around, but if you find your driver's a bit too chatty for your tastes, Lyft shares a tip: sit in the back, and they won't bother you.

I personally enjoy talking up my driver, but not everyone loves slogging through small talk on your way to the bar. In a recent email newsletter, Lyft shared this unwritten (now written?) rule: sit in the front to signal chattiness to your driver, or sit in the back to be left alone.

In retrospect, it makes sense, but it always felt awkward to sit in the back for such a casual service. Now I know that it's likely part of the driver's training to heed these social cues.
