If you've got some surgery coming up, the first thing you'll probably check is your insurance coverage. After that, consider checking the visitor policy when deciding among hospitals.

Look for a hospital that encourages you to have someone with you. Research suggests that people who have a friend or family member with them in the hospital recover faster and leave the hospital sooner .
