If you’ve been thinking about going on a bus trip next year, Megabus might be willing to give you a ticket for free.
The bus service is giving away 200,000 free tickets tomorrow for Cyber Monday. Megabus routes include rides on the west coast between Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vegas, Oakland, and San Jose and rides on the east coast connecting New York City, Boston, DC, and Philadelphia.
To score one of the free tickets you just have to find one. Megabus will be scattering the free deals across its site starting at 6am PT Monday.
Free tickets are one-way, so you’ll need to pay for a way home or find a free ticket back. There’s no limit to how man free tickets a single person can pick up, so you can grab as many as you can find.
The free tickets are the equivalent of basic economy on an airline in a way, so if you want to do things like select a seat you need to a pay a little. Seat prices typically range between $2-$10 a ticket.
And while free is definitely great, it’s worth noting that Megabus tickets aren’t traditionally all that expensive to begin with. For instance, today I was able to find a ticket from San Jose, California to Anaheim next week, an 8-hour journey, for $14.99. Add in $2 for an assigned seat, and you’d still be able to make the trip for less than $20.
