Expedite Your Next Passport Renewal Using This App

Now there’s even more of a reason to use Mobile Passport: you can use it to renew your passport.

Mobile Passport announced a partnership with RushMyPassport this week that will allow you to complete some of the passport renewal process via the app. Perhaps its best new feature is reminding you that you need a new passport to begin with.

6 months before your passport is due to expire, Mobile Passport will send you a push notification to give you a heads up. Afterward, it will help walk you through the process of renewing.

Travel + Leisure notes that you’ll still have to do things like mail in your old passport and a new photo as well as the paperwork that’s typically associated with getting a new passport, but the entire process will be bit more streamlined and expedited than it would be if you did it in-person at a passport office.

Regardless, getting that reminder could be a potential lifesaver.

Mobile Passport can come in handy, in general, if you ever travel internationally. It’s not quite as great as Global Entry, but the free app allows you to fill out the customs paperwork required to enter the United States digitally on your phone and then go through an expedited customs line when you land.

It’s not available at all airports, but it is available at quite a few and can shave a decent amount of time off your customs experience.
