Now that we've had some time to hang out with the iOS 8 jailbreak, new apps and tweaks are coming out made specifically for the new operating system. Let's take a look at the best.
NoPhotosCollections Removes Collections from the Photos App
If you're not a fan of the new Collections tab in the photos app, NoPhotosCollections gets rid of them so you can easily browse your photos just like you could in older versions of iOS. It declutters the Photos app and makes it a lot easier to navigate.
Remote Messages Brings iMessage Messaging to Windows
The fact that Messages and iMessages sync up between iOS and Macs is great, but Windows users are left in the dust. Remote Messages ($3.99) adds that functionality using an app on iOS> once it's enabled, you can access your Messages via a browser front-end on Windows, Linux, or just about anywhere else. It's not as flashy as Apple's solution, but it works great.
UpNext Queues Music Like iTunes
If you're a fan of the song queuing in iTunes, then UpNext ($1.49) is for you. It adds "Play Next" and "Queue" options to the default music app. Swipe left on a song to queue it, then head to the now playing screen to manage the queue. It's simple, but makes on the fly playlists a lot more intuitive on iOS.
Aeternum Makes Your iOS Interface Look like the Apple Watch
If you're a fan of the new Apple Watch UI design, then Aeternum is made for you. It brings the bubble app icons to iOS and makes it look just like the Apple Watch. Surprisingly, it works really well and looks great too.
Asos Locks Specific Applications Behind Passcodes
Asos (99¢) does one simple thing: it locks apps behind a passcode or fingerprint. If you tend to share your device with other people, then this allows you to lock off any app you want so people can't access it. It has some nice additional options too, like blurring out locked apps from the multitasking menu, setting timers for authentication, and more.
LittleBrother Brings iPhone 6 Plus Zoom and Orientation Options to Earlier Devices
LittleBrother ($1.99) allows you to adjust the zoom display just like you can on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus on older phones. You can also enable landscape mode on the home screen and lock screen. Basically, it gives you more useable space on your older devices just like you can do on the newest ones.
Safe Alarm Locks Down Alarm Volume Settings
For whatever reason, the alarm volume on the iPhone is determined by the system volume. If you tend to have this pretty low, then your alarm is pretty low too. Safe Alarm allows you to set custom alarm volumes outside of the system volume, which should ensure you'll never accidentally sleep in again.
DoubleCheck Adds a Name to the iMessage Text Input
If you're the type to rapid-fire text messages between a bunch of different people, you've probably accidentally sent the wrong person a message. DoubleCheck adds the recipient's name to the text field so you can double check to make sure you're typing your message to the right person.
Stepper 2 Adds a Step Count to the Lock Screen
If you're the type to obsessively count your steps throughout the day, then Stepper 2 is a great addition to your iPhone. It puts a step count right on your lock screen so you can easily see how far you've walked today. You can also set up custom notifications and change where the step count is displayed.
Everest Controls the Music App from Banner Notifications
Everest (99¢) adds music controls to banner notifications. You can pull down the banner with a gesture, then easily access play, pause, and song skipping. It's essentially a tiny little Control Center panel that doesn't require the actual Control Center.
