Stay Hungry For Your Success Unless You Want to Lose It

When you reach a certain level of success, it’s easy to get comfortable. If you want to stay there, though, be ready to act hungry. Even if you’re not.

As business blog Entrepreneur points out, most successful people tend to keep pushing themselves, even after a perceived “victory.” It’s the reason actors keep acting even though they’re already millionaires, and it’s the reason your favorite TV show went on for maybe a few more seasons than it needed to. This happens because they know, once you stop putting in the same work you did when you were craving success, you’ll no longer be prepared to keep winning:

When you win the Super Bowl, in life or in business, you cannot ever win again if you do not immediately go back to training — you must stay hungry, win or lose, success or failure. Whether the Panthers or the Broncos win the Super Bowl this year if they stop training they will never win another Super Bowl. Success requires constant attention and the moment you stop hunting for it, it will escape you. You must approach the creation of success as a must-have obligation, do-or-die mission, gotta-have-it, hungry-dog-on-the-back-of-a-meat-truck mentality.

Whether you’ve achieved something you consider “success” or you’re stalling out on your way there, ask yourself what you looked like when you were eager to succeed. How much effort did you put in during your early days? If you’re not willing to put in that same effort now, you’re not as likely to get the same results.
