One of the best parts of taking a road trip is the beautiful scenery, and these scenic drives are destinations in themselves if you love to drive. If you’ve been itching to hit the road, Travel+Leisure has a list of road trips you where you can take in the views.
You can find suggestions for almost any part of the country, including Hawaii and Alaska. Here are a few of my favorites:
- 17-Mile Drive runs along the northern California coast with views of the Pacific ocean as well as forests.

- Trail Ridge Road is perfect for spotting wildlife in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
- Highway 101 runs along Oregon’s coast with clear views of the Pacific ocean.
- Great River Road goes through ten states along the Mississippi, providing a variety of southern scenery.
- Route 6 has both sandy views of the beaches as well as leading into cities in Massachusetts.
