LED lighting panels for photography can cost around $500, but if you’re willing to put in a little of your own elbow grease, Make shows you how build your own for about $100.

The project uses a bunch of materials you can get just about anywhere, including a brownie pan to house the whole thing. It will take a bit of soldering to get through it, but it’s not and overly complicated project. Even better, the end result is a great looking panel that doesn’t really scream DIY.
