Make an Herb Rub from Any Mix of Herbs with This Formula

We’ve talked a lot about freezing and microwaving as great ways to extend the life of herbs. Here’s another superb way to make the most of those herbaceous leaves: make a rub.

Food52 offers a universal formula of sorts for making any type of herb rub. Begin with this rule of thumb:

A good place to begin is with equal parts of each herb and, if going the fresh route, a bit more olive oil than you think you’ll need.

After selecting your herbs, make a paste of them along with the oil and any other aromatics you’d like to add. Sprinkle in any dried herbs you desire, as well as seasonings, and then you’re ready to use (or store) it. Hit the link below for more details, including complementary herb pairings, suggestions for other aromatic add-ins, and tips on storing and using the rubs (hello, roasted vegetables!).
