Young children love rules and thrive with structure, but it’s not always easy for them to remember them. One super simple trick can create the habits you want in your kids at an early age: put up signs in the problem areas of your home.
It’s kind of like having a chore chart or, in restaurants, that sign for employees to wash their hands—a constant, visible reminder that somehow becomes ingrained.
Hint Mama shares this tip from a friend who put an “Adults Only” sign on the fridge and freezer doors for their 3-year-old who loved to repeatedly open them.
Some ideas: “Wash your hands” (in the bathroom), “Put clothes in the laundry basket” (in the bedroom), and “Don’t touch!” (on your office door). If your kid isn’t old enough to read yet, drawings might suffice.
