Search for a Local “Career Closet” for Interview Clothes

If you've been out of work for a while, you might not have money for interview clothes—especially if your size has changed. Instead of maxing out a credit card, check out a local "career closet" for professional interview clothes.

These programs are usually associated with a local college. They don't require you to be enrolled, but some require alumni status. Many communities have a stand-alone career closet available to anyone.

They accept used clothing like suits, shoes and other accessories. Likewise, if you've got some nice professional attire you no longer need, donate them to a local career clothing closet. You'll be helping someone get a job.

Check with your alumni office or local social service agencies to find a closet near you.
