The Amazon Kindle Gets a Design Refresh with a New Home Screen, Better Access to Settings

Amazon is rolling out an update to the Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage this month that’ll change the way your home screen looks. Alongside the new home screen, it’ll also give you better access to common settings and recommendations for books.

The big difference here is the new home screen, which as you might expect is designed more around shopping. You’ll see your library on the main screen still, but you’ll also have immediate access to your wish lists and a new “Recommended For You” section. The wish list section includes all the samples you’ve downloaded alongside any books currently in your wish list. If you’re on Goodreads, it’ll also show you anything on your “Want to Read” shelf. The recommendation section is also an improvement, including personalized recommendations and anything your Goodreads friends are reading. Finally, the redesign also gives you quick access to Airplane mode and device sync right from the main screen. The update’s rolling out sometime this month and unless you’ve turned off the auto-update feature on your Kindle, it’ll happen automatically.
