Gone are the days when you could walk into a Subway confident of what your sandwich would cost you: Whether you blame inflation or corporate greed, the $5 footlong is a deal long gone, even if the jingle will never truly leave your brain. But all hope is not lost for sandwich artist patrons: For the next nine days, you can get a taste of the good old days again thanks to Subway’s ongoing BOGO free footlong deal.

How to get a free Subway footlong right now

Subway if offering buy one, get one free footlongs starting today, with the offer expiring on Feb. 10. To get the deal, you’ll need to order online or use the Subway app. Log in and find a participating Subway in your area—Subway has the most restaurant locations in the United States (20,799),but they are exclusively franchise-owned, and not all of them participate in nationwide offers.

Once you select your location, click “pick up here” in green and add two footlongs of your choice to your cart. At the checkout, the coupon for the BOGO free footlong should already be applied. If it’s not, enter the “FLBOGO” in the promo code section.

The discount will apply to the cheaper sandwich in your order. Depending on where you live, that could be $4.99 for a Veggie Delite or $11.49 for an Ultimate Steak. (Use this tool to look up Subway’s prices in your area.)

The fine print

You can only get this deal when ordering online or through the Subway app—in-store orders are eligible. Any add-ons to your free sub, like bacon or extra cheese, will still cost you. You can only use the promotion once per order, but you should be able to use it as many times as you want for the next 10 days (unless you make an enemy of the manager at your local franchise, I suppose). You can’t combine this offer with any other deals, and the Footlong Pro (double meat) and Fresh Melts (their new-ish “grilled bread with extra cheese” offerings) are not included in the deal. Five. Five dollar. Five dollar footlongs. Sorry, it’s still stuck in my head.
