What Are the Best Gift Ideas for Someone Who Has Everything and Wants Nothing?

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is flip through random gift guides in an effort to discover fresh ideas for stocking stuffers for my husband, or something (anything) for my impossible-to-buy-for father-in-law. Sure, if they have everything and want nothing, maybe that’s what they should get—but that’s no fun, nor does it satisfy my deep desire to surprise people I love with gifts they never knew they wanted or needed.

It is through poring over these lists that I discovered the perfect eyeglass holder for my 11-year-old son, it is why my father-in-law now sits in a comfortable seat with a back when he goes kayaking, and it is why my husband will find this “old fashioned cocktail kit” in his stocking this year (along with a set of hot sauce sampler bottles and his favorite chocolates—the stocking trifecta).

Someone who enjoys these kinds of things as much as I do should really be compiling one of her own, if only to spread the joy to other families, and that’s why I’m here before you today. I want to tell everyone about the WellTold shop on Etsy, from which I have purchased no less than two rocks glasses, one coffee mug, and two coasters—but I want your input, too. Any truly quality gift list is a collaborative effort, so let’s discuss in the comments:

What is your favorite go-to gift for the hard-to-shop-for folks in your life? Do you have a favorite store or website where you know you’ll always come away with something worth wrapping and gifting? What item absolutely has to be included in a gift guide for The Person Who Has Everything? I will compile the best ideas in a future post.

(Please note: Anyone who says “whiskey stones” is automatically disqualified; however, suggestions like “Darth Vader ice molds” can stay.)
