When it comes to flying the unfriendly skies, there are tons of airlines you're better off avoiding, but some stand out more than others. Last week we asked for your least favorites, and then put the five worst airlines to a vote. Now, close to 14,000 votes later, we're back to highlight the one you disliked the most.
To be fair, lots of you shared lots of stories about lots of airlines, both international and domestic, in both our call for contenders and our hive five feature proper. However, at the end of the day, only one can be your least favorite, and sure enough, it's Spirit Airlines —the airline that also has the honor of being the most complained about in America. It took the top spot with over 32% of the vote.
Hot on its heels in second place is a bigger budget carrier though, United Airlines , which you may remember from such feats of fancy as "United Breaks Guitars" and for kicking veterans' service dogs. It brought in second place with close to 27% of the vote. Third place went to European low-cost/high-fee/low-respect carrier Ryanair , which earned close to 20% of the overall vote. Delta took the fourth place slot with over 15% of the votes cast, and bringing up the rear with only 6% of the vote was Frontier Airlines , another domestic low-cost/high-fee carrier.
