The new M2 chip was released last summer to wide acclaim, and now the 2022 M2 MacBook Air is getting a great discount (by Apple standards). The laptop’s price dropped to $899 (normally $1,099) at Best Buy. This is cheaper than any prize Amazon has seen, according to Camelcamelcamel, and it matches Best Buy’s lowest price during the October Prime Day sale, according to Honey’s price history. This price is what the refurbished M2 MacBook Airs sell for and is the lowest you’ll find at any other major retailer.

You’re getting Apple’s best ultra-portable laptop

If you’re looking for a laptop that’s portable, reliable, and can keep up with your busy multitasking schedule, then consider this 2022 M2 MacBook Air. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage and has up to 18 hours of battery life. PCMag called this laptop “Apple’s best ultraportable laptop yet,” noting its bright, vivid display, slim design, and the better performance the M2 chip offers.

The 2022 M2 MacBook Air dropped to $1,099 with the release of the 15-inch earlier this summer. With the new discount to $899, it brings it to just $50 more than the 13-inch M1 2020 MacBook Air, rendering the older model redundant. PCMag also did a head-to-head with the 2022 M2 Apple MacBook Pro with the 2022 M2 MacBook Air coming out on top for its portability.

This laptop is not for everyone, however. The 8GB of RAM are soldered—if you feel like the RAM is not enough to handle your workload, you’ll be out of luck since you won’t be able to expand it. You can always extend the 256GB of internal space with a external hard drive, though. For most people though, 8GB of RAM will give you enough memory to do photo and video editing and do some mid-range gaming.
