Turn a Raspberry Pi Zero Into Just About Any USB Device You Can Imagine

The Raspberry Pi Zero is a pretty low key little device, but the folks over at Adafruit figured out that it’s possible to turn the Zero into a USB device, which means it can be used to make a number of electronics, ranging from an ethernet device to a camera.

All you’ll need to do is solder on a couple of parts, install some software, and you’re on your way. Adafruit details how to make a Serial Gadget and an Ethernet Gadget, both of which allow you to control the Raspberry Pi Zero in different ways. Both of these are just the backbone of potential projects though, because with the USB files unlocked, you can make a mass storage device, MIDI device, HID, an audio device, a webcam, printer, or just about anything else you can think of that’s attached to your computer with a USB cable. If you’re curious about how it all works and want to dig in, head over to Adafruit.
