7 Cups Puts Trained Listeners and Mindfulness Exercises on Your Phone, for Free

Android/iOS: 7 Cups is a great service to talk to someone if you don’t have the money for therapy, and their mobile apps make it even easier to connect to a listener and text or talk about what’s on your mind. It even includes mental exercises to help deal with stress or anxiety.

7 Cups has been around for a long time, but the service’s new mobile apps (well, not that new—they’ve been around for a bit too) put those trained volunteer listeners a tap or two away if you need someone to talk to. Listeners are even rated and reviewed, so you can learn a little more about each one before you connect, and see how the rest of the community thinks of them. All of your conversations are anonymous and confidential, and the service is completely free. Listeners can even help you get in touch with a professional if you want, or just listen to you get something off your chest. It’s a service we’ve recommended before, and putting on your smartphone makes it even easier to use.

Beyond connecting you with someone in real time, the app also features some exercises and mental activities to take the edge off if you’re stressed out or feeling anxious. If you want, you can even sign up to be a volunteer listener (they’re always looking for more) and give back a little. The apps are completely free, as are the listening services.
