Welcome to the Week-Before-Christmas Friday Open Thread! I’m Rat Fink, the blazing supernova of awesomeness. I will be your host today. Are you excited for the holidays? The pigging-out and present-opening part, obviously. Not the arguing-with-your-in-laws part. How are your holiday preparations shaping up? Wrapped countless gifts and lumps of coal, decorated your tree and house with tangled Christmas lights, shopped for last minute gifts Starbucks gift cards, and sent out the same Christmas cards from last year to your family and friends? What are your plans for the holidays? What gifts did you get your family and friends? What gifts are you looking forward to receiving?

Holidays aren’t the only thing some people are preparing for this year. What about those of you on the drought-stricken West Coast? Are you preparing for El Niño? Are you looking forward to bringing joy to your brown, patchy lawn?

My family and I are on our way to Sweden for the holidays. We’re looking forward to a crisp, cold, snowy, sunless (polar night) white Christmas.
