Sonos speakers have never been the most affordable on the market. Each piece in their set commands a premium, and that can make building out an awesome surround sound system a pricey prospect. But the current discount available on refurbished Sonos One SL speakers is kicking the door down to a more affordable upgrade. The speakers are available for $119 apiece after $40 off their usual price (and $80 off their original retail price) post-Cyber Monday.
This is a nice deal for anyone looking to dip their toes in Sonos’s multi-room audio setups, but it’s perhaps an even more enticing option for anyone who’s already invested in Sonos gear with one of the company’s Arc, Beam, or Ray soundbars.
The Sonos One SL can conveniently merge into a surround setup with a Sonos soundbar, serving as rear speakers for the setup. Adding rear surround speakers not only offers more room-filling sound but also adds a whole new level of dynamism to movie and TV audio. Sonos also has some fun division of music when using a surround-sound setup that can make it feel a bit more like different instruments are playing from around the room.
Considering that Sonos’s current base option for rear surrounds is the $249 Era 100, it would cost more to just add one of these speakers to your setup than it would to snag two of these Sonos One SL speakers for more complete surround sound. Sonos has also sorted out some of the issues its app had been facing since earlier this year, so they shouldn’t stand in the way of getting these speakers working properly.
The fact that the Sonos One SL on sale here is a refurbished model may deter some, but it shouldn’t be an issue. The speaker is backed by Sonos’s guarantee that the refurb will be as good as new, and you even get the same one-year warranty that you’d get on a new model.
