Remember a simpler time, not too long ago, where people were concerned about getting their hands on a chicken sandwich, instead of a deadly pandemic? Well, the pandemic is still on, but there’s a new chicken sandwich on the block—this time from McDonald’s. The best part is that this time, if you’d like to try one, you won’t even need to leave your house. Oh, and the chicken sandwich could be free. Here’s what to know.

What is new about this chicken sandwich?

Right now, you probably have a lot of questions, including “Wait, doesn’t McDonald’s already have a chicken sandwich on their menu?” As a matter of fact, they did (and still do). It’s called the McChicken (clearly), and the fast food chain describes it as “a delightfully crispy chicken fillet topped with mayonnaise, shredded iceberg lettuce, and served on a perfectly toasty bun.”

But the new sandwich (i.e. the one created to compete with the one from Popeyes) is called the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and according to McDonald’s, is a “southern style fried chicken sandwich is crispy, juicy and tender perfection. It’s topped with crinkle-cut pickles and served on a new toasted, buttered potato roll.” It also comes in a “spicy” version (which comes with a spicy pepper sauce) and a “deluxe” offering (which comes with shredded lettuce, tomatoes and mayo).
