Fall cleaning is a different beast than spring cleaning, mainly because of all the damn leaves and dust. To get your home and lawn in order, you need gadgets. Here are some cool ones.

The best gadgets to corral autumn leaves

There are a variety of cool tools that will help make removing leaves from your yard simple. You can always use flattened cardboard if you have to, but try these for some added pizzazz:

  • A movable leaf collector from VESHINE ($33.99) acts like a big dustpan to help you get all your leaves in one place, then easily dump them into a bin. It works with a regular rake or any of the more efficient products below.
  • A pair of GreatBuddy leaf scoops ($16.79) is great for areas where you can’t use a leaf collector, as they enable you to transfer piles of leaves to the bin with ease. They also just make it easier to grab leaves overall, giving you much more control than a standard rake. These are 15.6 inches by 14 inches and have a three-inch depth, so they pick up a bunch of leaves.
  • Two G-BAR scoops ($10.59) are a good option for when you don’t have a rake at all or for areas where one won’t fit. They’re scoops, too, but have a jagged edge that allows you to rake leaves by hand. Try using them to get leaves out from under furniture or decorations where a rake handle would be unwieldy. (You can also get a pair that comes with a collapsible disposal bin for $14.99.)
  • A mulcher from Worx ($163.06) mulches up to 53 gallons of leaves in a minute, turning 11 bags into one with ease and making disposal or reuse in a fall garden a breeze. Some people use their lawn mowers to mulch, but this is much simpler.

Fall cleaning around the house

Fall cleaning isn’t much different than the cleaning you normally do, save for that you’re probably laundering your heavier blankets. The one thing that makes it unique is all the dust and debris from weeds and leaves. Grab these:

  • A Black + Decker handheld vacuum ($69) to suck the dust out of your mattress, furniture, and household surfaces as you prepare for winter.
  • An AROEVE air purifier (49.99) to handle dust and smoke for up to 215 feet. Keep one in the front room so any autumnal ickies that come through the front door don’t stand a chance.

Fall cleaning bonus: the scents

Even though fall cleaning is very similar to year-long cleaning, you can add a touch of seasonal fun by getting cleaning products in traditional fall scents.
