Hanging drywall is an arduous task. Attaching it to the ceiling is even tougher—almost impossible if you are doing the job yourself. Here's a great technique for hanging drywall on your ceiling when you don't have a helping hand.
Attach a 6-8' piece of 2x4 across the top stud and leave about 3/4" space from the rafters. Then make a turning block by attaching a scrap piece of 2x4 to a shorter 3/4" particle board using a screw and a washer.
To hang the drywall on the ceiling, slide one end into the space between the 2x4 and the rafter then walk up the drywall to the ceiling and turn the blocks which have been attached 4' from the wall.
