This Gerber Infant Formula Is Being Recalled (Again)

The headline may sound familiar—that’s because the same potentially contaminated baby formula product recalled back in March “out of abundance of caution” somehow still made it out to a Nashville, Tenn. retailer, which further distributed it to eight states.

The Gerber Good Start SootheProTM Powdered Infant Formula is potentially contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii, a bacteria commonly found in nature that causes no symptoms in most kids and adults. However, for premature infants, infants under two months old, or infants with weakened immune systems, it can cause serious symptoms, including fever, poor feeding, excessive crying or low energy.

Which baby formula is recalled?

The recalled baby formula is labeled Gerber Good Start SootheProTM Powdered Infant Formula and was manufactured from Jan. 2 to Jan. 18, 2023. You can see an image here. The following retailers from Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia received the 12.4-ounce version of the infant formula after that date:

What to do if you have the recalled baby formula?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants you check your pantry to make sure you didn’t purchase one of the recalled baby formulas. If you have a product with a matching code above, they urge you to stop using it and throw it away. You can request a refund by contacting the Gerber Parent Resource Center at 1-800-777-7690. They are available anytime. If you have any health-related questions, the FDA advises you to contact your healthcare provider.
