If watching Barack and Michelle Obama at the virtual Democratic National Convention this week has you feeling a certain kind of nostalgia, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of ways to keep up with what the former First Family is up to now, particularly through media.

Here are a few places to hang with the Obamas online:

Watch the Obama documentaries

There’s a pretty extensive collection of video content covering the Obamas’ life before, during, and after their stay in the White House. On Netflix, you’ll find Becoming, a documentary based on the former First Lady’s memoir and the accompanying book tour. Barack Obama was also featured in the first episode of Dave Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction as well as in an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

Over on PBS, check out Dreams of Obama, a 1-hour FRONTLINE documentary telling the story of Obama’s journey from senator to president. If you’re interested in policy, try HBO’s The Final Year, which follows the administration’s foreign policy team during Obama’s last year in office.

Next up is The Way I See It, a documentary featuring former White House photographer Pete Souza’s experiences in the Obama White House. The film was supposed to premiere at the now-canceled Telluride Film Festival in September—it’s not clear when it will be widely available, but you can watch the trailer on YouTube.

G/O Media may get a commission

There’s also a slate of Netflix series and films either acquired or made by the Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground Productions. American Factory is one title that’s already available on Netflix with an accompanying short featuring a conversation with the Obamas. Becoming was also produced by Higher Ground.

Listen to Michelle Obama’s podcast

Michelle Obama recently launched, well, the Michelle Obama Podcast, which is available only on Spotify. Episodes are generally between 40 minutes and an hour long and are in interview format. So far, guests have included Barack Obama, journalist Michele Norris (discussing the pandemic and protests), Dr. Sharon Malone (on women’s health and aging), and Michelle’s brother Craig.

New episodes of the podcast drop weekly.

Follow Barack Obama’s reading and playlists

Barack Obama is well-versed in music and pop culture, and he’s taken to sharing playlists—or really just lists—of his favorite songs. The most recent list, his Summer 2020 playlist, features artists who performed at the Democratic National Convention. You can find the list on Twitter and translate it to your preferred music platform.

Similarly, he’s made a habit of releasing his summer reading lists for book lovers to follow along. You can find a rundown of past reading lists thanks to Quartz.

Follow the Obamas on social media

The Obamas are very active on Twitter (@BarackObama and @MichelleObama), Instagram (@BarackObama and @MichelleObama) and Facebook (@BarackObama and @MichelleObama). You can also keep up with them via their nonprofit, The Obama Foundation, and its social media accounts.
