The TSA Now Allows 12oz of Hand Sanitizer in Carry-On Luggage

If you have a flight coming up and are worried about bringing your hand sanitizer on-board we have some good news for you: now you can pack larger bottles in your carry on.

The Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) announced Friday that it will now allow travelers to bring larger bottles of hand sanitizer on board with them when they fly, the Washington Post reports. Passengers are now allowed to pack bottles of hand sanitizer up to 12oz in size in their carry-on, a significant increase from the 3.4oz that was previously allowed.

That 3.4oz rule still applies to other liquids.

While the larger bottles of hand sanitizer are allowed, they also have to be screened separately from your other stuff when going through security, something the TSA notes might potentially slow down your journey.

Last week the TSA also released a statement suggesting that passengers put things like their phones, wallets, and keys inside their carry-on luggage when going through airport security rather than putting them inside one of the plastic bins that have been used by a number of other passengers, according to Business Insider. It also suggests that passengers wash their hands both before and after they pass through an airport security line.
