Say Say Say, in the Friday Open Thread

That was a close one. I was about to crash, when I remembered I’m supposed to be hosting the Friday open thread for Feb. 5, and **** I had nothing written.

Well ok. So welcome!! Welcome one and all!!! I am Moon. And the mic is open!

Maybe I’ll just use this part to crow a teeny bit. I got my second Valentine’s Day gig at one of our town’s more high quality restaurants. I play a stringed instrument and it went well with the V Day dinner last year, so they’re having me back. Last year was really memorable for me. I got my fee, plus $90 in tips, and a nice meal.

What added to the memorable part is what started happening in the days after that. I had told one of the restaurant’s owners that “I can go on and on.” They were commenting on how many hours I had played for them, about two and a half I think it was. One time, I had played four hours at a fund raiser. <— which is what brought on my famous last words.

For almost a year now, my left arm has been letting me down. It’s to do with a so-called pinched nerve. I won’t go into that coz I’ve done that before. But I have recovered somewhat, though I may still opt for surgery, depending on what a neurosurgeon has to say to me on Feb. 26th. I pray this is the last dr consultation.

There is a larger point I’d like to make before I turn things over to you guys. Watch out for your last words. I thought I could “play through the pain” and my body would just go on taking it, because I willed it so, and because my will had prevailed for such a long time. Just guard your health if you got it. Coz you only have it once. Or something. I’m going now. Back later. For now, talk! Tell of your famous last words maybe. If you don’t have any, famous first words are interesting, too! Cya later.
