When most people choose a wine, they consider price. While it’s easy to gravitate towards the stuff in boxes at the front of the store, there are affordable gems to be found all around the shop. Such was the case with our Lifehacker staff writer, Alicia, whose expertise in personal finance inclines her toward more sensible purchase options.

As Jake Cahill of Vanderbilt Wine Merchants points out, shopping at a smaller store means that the cheaper options are more curated—if a store has limited space, they want to make sure they offer quality options at a variety of prices. Which means there’s never any judgment when a customer isn’t looking to drop hundreds of dollars at once.

Learning Tree expanded end-to-end cybersecurity certification training solutions to help organizations invest in a people-first cybersecurity culture. These defined learning paths feature licensed partner content, hands-on labs, practice exams and exam vouchers, are available as blended learning and unlimited access bundles, and include after-course instructor coaching to support learners to gain practical on-the-job skills.

“So far this year, U.S. employers alone have posted more than 103,000 job openings for cybersecurity engineers and analysts, a 30-percent increase over the same period in 2017,” said Joe Padin, CompTIA Vice President for U.S. Federal and Education Certification.

“CompTIA is committed to raising awareness about the critical importance of cybersecurity; to build competencies and skills among cybersecurity professionals around the world; and to attract new candidates into the cybersecurity workforce,” Padin continued. “We’re pleased to work with Learning Tree as an important strategic partner in this effort.”

In support of Cybersecurity Awareness Month recognized worldwide, Learning Tree collaborated with industry-recognized organizations to reframe training as defined learning paths aimed at this talent deficit at all levels.

“As a top National Accredited Training Center (ATC) in partnership with EC-Council, Learning Tree is greatly expanding their cybersecurity training portfolio in further closing the skills gap for many organizations,” said Todd York, EC Council Partner Development Manager.

Featured cybersecurity certification paths – #CyberAware:

  • An entry-point into the security field: learn how to search for vulnerabilities in operating systems and reduce exposure to dangers in enterprise-wide and virtual private networks.
  • CompTIA career pathways – Stackable certification bundles: a vendor-neutral pathway for IT professionals to achieve cybersecurity mastery; Stackable certifications demonstrate multiple certifications to validate the skills of various IT roles and show a mastery, opening up more job opportunities. These stacked bundles offer unlimited on-demand content to support a continued learning experience.
  • ISACA’s knowledge and experience-based credentials: CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC. ISACA’s four certifications help individuals provide assurance, manage security, govern enterprise information and technology and manage risk—all essential aspects of keeping information assets protected.
  • ISC(2) CISSP + EC Council certified CISO (C/CISO): two certifications paired together are a combination to strengthen collaboration with the CISO and show the path for aspiring CISOs.

“Building a capable cybersecurity workforce is of utmost importance in maintaining a robust cybersecurity posture for your organization,” said Richard A. Spires, Learning Tree’s CEO.

“Certifications are a critical element to a comprehensive workforce development program and through Learning Tree’s partnership with these certifying organizations, we can provide the full range of training needed for a CISO’s or IT Security Manager’s organization.”

Verint Systems and Thales formed a partnership to create a Cyber Security Threat Intelligence approach for governments, enterprises, and critical infrastructures in Europe. The partnership enriches the expertise and threat knowledge of both companies, delivering a cyber threat intelligence analysis for the international ecosystem.

Verint and Thales’ monitoring of security incidents, and analysis of Dark Web sources and cyber adversaries, show that the volume of cyber-attacks is growing, and despite investments in attack prevention and network security, hackers are becoming more motivated.

Espionage, information warfare and infrastructure sabotage are major menaces with potential ramifications on global politics and economics, while cybercrime-related attacks result in losses reaching hundreds of billions of dollars within the global industry.

While continuing to leverage ransomware and phishing scams, attacks are also occurring through the use of stolen military cyber weapons, vulnerable Internet of Things (IoT) devices, credential leakages, and Malware-as-a-Service (MaaS) in underground communities.

In addition, the complexity of systems and software is constantly growing, thus increasing organizations’ exposure to attacks. Cyber threat intelligence plays a critical role in providing threat visibility and developing capabilities for a cyber defense strategy.

“Verint’s Cyber Security and threat intelligence offerings complement ours, bringing an additional approach to the global threat appreciation,” says Laurent Maury, VP Cybersecurity and Critical Information Systems at Thales. “By combining Verint’s vast experience and advanced Cyber Threat Intelligence capabilities with ours, we can provide our customers with a comprehensive and global strategy to keep both the public and private sectors safer from the ever-increasing level of cyber threats.”

Combining the data collection with proprietary intelligence, Verint empowers organizations to build and maintain a cyber security technology strategy and methodology. This enables organizations to anticipate and mitigate targeted threats, reduce risk and enhance security resilience.

“Joining forces with Thales strengthens our mutual ability to deliver comprehensive knowledge of potential threats, and thus provide the necessary cyber security protection,” said Elad Sharon, President, Verint Cyber Intelligence Solutions.

“Verint Cyber Intelligence leverages years of intelligence domain expertise, embedded within investigation methodologies and technologies critical to prevent cyber-attacks before they get into the gateway of the organization. We welcome the opportunity to create an ecosystem, one in which organizations across the globe can benefit from a comprehensive cyber security threat intelligence approach and ultimately receive the highest level of security.”

Thales addresses the entire information security lifecycle. Thales helps secure the digital transformation of the demanding government bodies, private firms and critical infrastructure providers.

Verint and Thales have created a joint intelligence report providing insights into the dynamic cyber threat landscape and growing diversity in cybersecurity threats in Europe.
